Hypersonic space-plane vehicles would make access to space cheaper and easier. Rapid global travel will also be possible. Challenges remain in designing and optimizing vehicles which can sustain such a harsh environment. Moshman Research supports this progress in three main areas.

Hypersonic Flow Control – Extending an open-source, multi-physics and optimization tool to include the added physics and control actions present in the hypersonic environment.

Hypersonic Trajectory Optimization – Customizing a commercial optimization tool to calculate maximum reachability footprints of hypersonic vehicles and including in the design loop.

Multi-Physics Modeling – Developing upon state-of-the-art research codes as hypersonic flow physics understanding solidifies.
